Bufo bufo

Bufo bufo

Description

Toad with stocky and sturdy body. Skin with warts and with big glandes at the two side of the neck, called paratoides. The colour of the back is dull and uniform, mainly brown, red or gray verge on olive green. Stomach is dirty white. The eardrum is little.The eyes are yellow and have a horizontal pupil. The male is 10 cm long, female about 15 cm.
Feeding

Invertebrate, mainly worms and insects.
Distribution

Europe, Russian and north Africa.
Habitat

It lives on different habitat on the ground.
In reproduction period it goes in ponds and puddles of water, temporary too.

 

Toad

Toad are Anura with short tails. They live in the grounds and are adapted to long walker. They are not very quick and they do little jump.
Weapons: they camoufage themselves and have warts and gland with unpleasant substances.

Anura

Anura are the without tails amphibians, they have back paws for jump. They include frogs, tree frogs and toads.

Dopo diversi giorni di bel tempo, in concomitanza con le prime deboli piogge e temperatura mite fino a 15-16°C vi sono segnalazioni di questo rospo (Roma) anche in questo periodo.

Non sono rarissimi rospi comuni in riproduzione a gennaio, ma a novembre è veramente anomalo. Un anticipo forse dettato da qualche giorno di gelo seguito da giornate calde che ha stimolato soprattutto il maschio.

Oggi nel cortile di casa mia, a Sabaudia.. maschio sul dorso di una grande femmina, probabilmente diretti verso una pozza d'acqua.. non dovrebbe essere il periodo degli accoppiamenti ma probabilmente le temperature miti che quì durano tutto l'anno favoriscono questi comportamenti.

Il rospo comune (bufo-bufo) come tutti pensano non é velenoso é vero che vicino le mascelle ha delle ghiandole velenifere,ma il veleno non può tirarlo fuori in nessun modo per cui non c'è pericolo potete toccarlo o prenderlo in mano,ciao a tutti!

Nel mio giardino fino a pochi giorni fa c'era un bel rospone bufo-bufo che ho rinfrescato spesso con l'acqua del pozzo. Adesso che fa caldo si è trovato un posto più umido e fresco.
