Common green toad

Bufo (Epidalea) viridis

Bufo viridis

Description

Roundish body, short legs. Pale back colour, green dark spots whit black edge. Sometimes red spots near warts.
White abdomen with possible brown punctuation. Very rough skin.
Big yellow and black eyes with horizontal and elliptical pupil. Little eardrum near eye-sockets. Nostril holes towards the top.
Male long 6 cm, female until 10.
Some individuals are uniform brown, others have clash colour.

Feeding Invertebrates, mainly worms and insects.
Distribution Eastern Europe until central Asia. North Africa.
Habitat

This toad comes out mainly on evening and on night. It lives in parks and gardens too. In the reproductive period it reaches little ponds, temporary too.

 

Toad

Toad are Anura with short tails. They live in the grounds and are adapted to long walker. They are not very quick and they do little jump.
Weapons: they camoufage themselves and have warts and gland with unpleasant substances.

Anura

Anura are the without tails amphibians, they have back paws for jump. They include frogs, tree frogs and toads.
